ADAM KATZ MPAS, PA-C

Specializes in APP Staffing and Billing Solutions for Healthcare Facilities

Adam Katz is Director of Critical Care Advanced Practice Providers at UMass Memorial Health (UMMH) located in Worcester, Massachusetts. In 2006 he was conferred with a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Psychology and Health Studies from Springfield College after which he continued his education, receiving a Masters of Physician Assistant Studies from MCPHS in Manchester, NH. Since 2009 he has been working in critical care as a clinical staff provider and in 2015, he was promoted to his current Director level position at UMMH.

He has achieved much over his short career, which started by completing a Physician Assistant Critical Care Residency Program in 2010 at UMass Memorial Medical Center (UMMMC). After residency he stayed at UMMMC and took a full-time advanced practice provider (APP) position within the critical care department. Shortly after starting as clinical staff, Adam was tasked with working as the Assistant APP Residency Program Director and new-hire coordinator for his department at UMMH. The organizational and administrative skills developed in these roles laid the foundation for becoming the Critical Care Advanced Practice Program Director at UMMMC. Since taking this role Adam has taken advantage of the experience and opportunities to grow professionally.

Over the past few years, Adam has been a member of the UMMMC Medical Staff Executive Committee, Co-Chair of the Advanced Practice Provider Credentialing Committee, and was instrumental in developing a successful APP staffing plan for UMMMC during the three COVID surges between 2020 and 2021. His professional interests include working with the critical care population and collaborating with clinical operations to improve patient quality and safety metrics. As of 2022 he is actively pursuing a higher education in these areas by obtaining a Doctor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies.  When not working he enjoys spending time with his family in Vermont or driving his antique Ford Mustang.
